I began working in radio during high school in Clinton- a small town in western Oklahoma where I literally started out at 16 on the "hometown station" on main street. By college I was working in radio full time as a DJ and it was then I began hosting a Sunday morning Christian show so I could share my love of Petra, Whiteheart, DeGarmo & Key, Bryan Duncan and all the other great 80's bands with the world.
In 1990, literally the same week I married my wife Jackie I began my first full-time Christian station job in Oklahoma City, starting a short-lived but memorable station that went by the name "Light 105". In 1992 I left that station to move to Wichita, Kansas and help another new station get off the ground, this one called "Light 99". It was at Light 99 that I first met Craig West! We've been working together ever since- 13 years! I've really appreciated being able to walk through life with Craig and we've enjoyed seeing each others kids grow up and how our families have grown over the years.
The NEXT 30 years are going to be the best- I really believe that!
Well both of our kids were born in Wichita, but I have successfully made Josh & Emily into true Sooner fans, so no harm in where they were born! Jackie and I loved returning to Oklahoma in 1998, where I have served as Program Director of KXOJ in addition to being on the air.
We've enjoyed calling Tulsa home (actually Bixby- go Spartans!) since 1998 and have some great friends through the station, ourneighborhood and schools and our church, Parkview Baptist.
KXOJ is a special place- not because any of us work here, but because God is at work in this radio station. I hope you are able to hear that when you turn on 100.9.
