Heat a heavy pan to med-hot. Add the olive oil, sliced onions and mushrooms and allow to brown for 4-7 minutes or until nicely browned. Remove from pan and set aside to cool. Add ground beef to the hot pan and brown adding spices, salt and pepper. After browning drain off excess grease and add the ground beef to the mushroom & onion mixture and allow to cool to room temp. Heat oven to 375 and set puff pastry on the counter to defrost. After the beef and mushroom mixture has cooled and the pastry is pliable...lay the pastry out flat on the counter and fill the center section with 1/3 of the ground beef mixture. In a small bowl, mix the egg with 2 Tbsp cold water to make an egg wash. Now overlay the pastry in thirds to cover the beef mixture making a long tube. Where the pasty overlaps, brush with egg wash to glue the pastry to itself and crimp with the times of a fork. Repeat until all pastry and beef mixture are used. Place the pastry tubes onto a cookie sheet and egg-wash the tops of each pastry and slice three small vent holes on the top of each tube. Place in a hot oven and cook until the pastry is golden brown. |

Comments: |
| You could add a number of different ingredients to the sauce to change up the flavor...like roasted red peppers |
