During April 16-17th, Tulsa H.O.P.E.. plans to pack 1,000,000 meals at 3 different locations for starving children for Feed My Starving Children. A total of 5,000 volunteers will be needed and $170,000 for the ingredients (which is 17 cents per bag of food). The locations for packing meals are The Mabee Center, Liberty Church in Broken Arrow and The Assembly of Broken Arrow.
Here is a little history on this event…
In 2008 a small group from Liberty Church in Broken Arrow, OK began discussing how they could make a significant impact in the lives of other people. They started researching organizations who were currently meeting the needs of starving children worldwide. In January of 2009 the group committed to pack 100,000 meals for the Feed My Starving Children organization the last weekend in March. Liberty Church supported this endeavor and the name of the event became Tulsa H.O.P.E. 2009.
Liberty Church leadership was equally supportive and in a few short weeks worked with the small group to help organize 500 volunteers and raise the $17,000 needed to purchase ingredients for the bags of food. The support was overwhelming, which gave birth to the vision of packing 1 million meals in 2010. No one knew at the time what devastation would occur in Haiti, Chile or other parts of the world. The need is tremendous.
This is a terrific ministry for the entire family. You and your children can be “hands-on” volunteers to help pack the meals. Also, we challenge your family to discuss skipping 1 meal out and donate that amount of money your family would have spent eating out to provide meals for starving children.
