What we REALLY do at concerts…

Ok, so at the Tenth Avenue North concert at the Riverwalk we had a little time to kill so Bob Michaels, Craig West and I went to the Fun House where we played a little hockey.  I lost to Craig…who lost to Bob.  As you can see, getting ready for a show if VERY hard work!

I was walking around Riverwalk snapping pictures when I shot this scene.  I loved the fact the wind caught this little girls hair right as she was sticking her hands in the fountain!  It’s one of those shots that makes me think I should be a professional photographer…even though the shot was pure accident.  :)

I’ll upload more pictures after our next events.  Maybe I’ll get a picture of YOU at Rockets Over Rhema!

Right Tax Rebate, Wrong Account!

money.jpg

If you were suppose to receive your tax rebate check by now and are wondering why it hasn’t arrived yet…you can blame a computer glitch at the IRS that has deposited some 15,000 checks into the WRONG accounts!!!  Yikes!!  To check on YOUR check call this number, 1-800-829-1954.  Do you think Uncle Sam will give us a bonus for the inconvenience?

 Probably Not!

So…Everyone has been wondering if I’m really going to go  skydiving with my church singles group, and the answer is…no :(  It’s not that I’m scared…sort of…but my roommate and I are moving into a new apartment the same day they are going skydiving.  Trust me…I think I rather skydive than move AGAIN for the 3rd time in 3 years, but I don’t think that would go over very well with everyone who’s helping us move.  Oh well, maybe next time!

I just wanted to share some of the photos from my trip with you! We met some of these kids at the World Vision Area Development Project.  Other kids we met in a neighborhood down by the river where World Vision is active.

Poem of the Mockingbird by Caryn Cruise

He stands tall, straight, and proud.

On the highest limb of the tallest tree…to the tops of the chimneys, perched on the edge.

He sings, Loud!  He sings for he is creation.  He sings to the rest of creation.  He sings, “I sing to the One who created me!  I give Him my praise.  I sing Him YOUR song and I give Him YOUR praise.  I sing for you and for me and if you will not sing, then I will sing all the more.”

He does not shrink back.  He is not ashamed.  He does not boast of himself.  He boasts in the Lord!

He is not as his name suggests.  He does not mock in spite.  He simply can’t help but open his mouth and let the melody pour out.

It’s as if he knows the verse, ‘If I do not cry out these rocks will cry out in my place,’ but he will not let that happen.

His heart beats furiously, his lungs fill with life and breathe, his chest puffs up and all songs waft out.  His heart is so full of joy that when he hears a song he must join in.

He sores and flits.  He is heart-joy.  He is peace proclaimed…He is in love.  And he inspires me to sing my song, to join in the song, and to sing even when no one else will.

He is the mockingbird and he is praise to the King.

Beauty Revealed

att00042.jpg Hola!  I’m glad to have a chance to share with you through this blog, even beyond what I’m able through the radio on a daily basis.  You know, one of the things I LOVE to do, besides being on air, is painting.  One of my favorite paintings is a picture of a faceless lady in a blue dress called Beauty Revealed.  God has spoken to me so much about beauty through this painting…and through Cinderella.  That’s who she is like, who most women are like I believe.  She was covered in ashes, but then she undergoes a dramatic transformation and comes out glorious.  You’d have to agree that Cinderella was beautiful even before her Fairy God-mother came into the picture.  Her ugly step-sisters knew it.  That’s why they didn’t want her to go to the ball in the first place.  She was a beautiful person.  It was made even more obvious to everyone when she lost the ashes.  But, I don’t think she would have been as beautiful if she had only thought of herself the way she was before she was transformed.  If Prince Charming had come up to her at the ball and said, “You are the most beautiful girl here!”  And, her reply had been, “Oh, but you should have seen me before the makeover.  I was a mess!  My hair was ratted, I didn’t have any makeup on…etc,” I don’t think he would have seen her in the same light.  Too often when complimented we, instead of graciously accepting the compliment, deny we deserved it by reminding others, and ourselves, of our faults.Cinderella, nor this Lady in Blue, remembered the girl covered in ashes but only saw her beauty revealed.  It’s sad to admit, but we usually pick up the ashes and choose to carry those around instead of our beauty.  We leave our beauty on the floor and think it worthless because that’s how we feel.  Worthless.  Undeserving.  And we were until Christ covered us in His flawless beauty.Christ has washed us clean.  Christ shines in us.  Christ IS our beauty revealed.  Nothing shines brighter in you.  But you have a choice…to wallow in the ugliness of your past or shine in the glory of who, and whose you are. Let your beauty be revealed.
